I got this in a couple weeks ago.

And I get to play with this this weekend. Any tips are appreciated.

Also, the shift boot keeps popping off, can't really get a good fit, seems like it's 1/8 in. short at either top or bottom. Does it glue in, or do I have the wrong one, this is what was in the car when I got it.

Wrong shift boot. The original was a two piece deal. Datsunparts.com has the ones you need, 1407 for the lower, 1765 for the upper.

The shift boot is for a Datsun truck not the Roadster. Dean at Datsunparts has a nice version that fits perfectly.

Yes, I looked at Dean's site, he's not taking orders this week. I'll order the correct boot and install carpet next weekend? Hopefully.

Got my shifter boot from Dean, and a few other items. Does the boot just pinch in, or should I glue it? Hoping to install carpet this weekend. I'll need to cut for shifter, probably cig lighter on the tunnel. Any other tips before I start. Should I lay it over the sound deadener I installed, glue it, or go with the snaps and reposition them? Seat belts, cut out for them now, or later?

Been several months since I updated. It's insured, licensed, and driving. Added new carpet, went with miata seats, original seats are in the rafters, consoles are in, straightened and polished my side spears. Still needs a bit of work to finish. Been driving around the neighborhood but tires are rotted and I need wheels that fit properly before venturing out. Was going to make a run to the gas station for it's first official fill up on Saturday, but I was proved wrong, thought I was having fuel pump issues again, but truth is it ran out of gas. Gauge shows just below 1/4 tank when it's really empty, add 5 gals and it's the gauge shows 3/4. Took the jeep and a 5 gal jug for fuel, dumped it in the roadster and it fired right up. Next on the list is wheels and tires, install the spears and emblems, finish the interior.

Significant transformation! The seats look good and comfortable. Yep, after all that work make sure the tires and wheels don't fall off!
