Libre reproductions?

Post by auggiemize »

Saw a recent ad for "Libre style" wheels for sale...Did someone at some point make copies/reproductions, or are they all from American Racing, and the ad misspoke?

Several manufacturers did a Libre knock-off back in the day, VTO presently. An original (usable) AR libre is actually hard to find these days.

There's actually a brand new (NOS) set of genny AR Libres on SF Bay Area CL right now. But 13x7 for Dime and others. $2400!!

AR does sell the "new" 200S (5-spoke version of the Libre) as a "Classic wheel" in the typical hot rod sizes and PCDs. Not that that helps us.

Slight differences, both look great. There's also a Shelby wheel that a member has on his turbo 2L

Just what I needed folks. The ID photos are perfect. Thanks, Alex. I hope the VTO caps will fit the originals I have. Still need lugs...DV

VTO Caps do not fit the originals.

From time to time you can find the plastic American racing caps. Need to be sure you have AR wheels as some clones have a different size.

If you have true American Racing Libres, then wheels from the American Racing 200s will fit iirc.

Shelby made a Viper model that is a Libre copy. They show up on eBay or CL from time to time.
