Does the Nissan electronic speedo sending unit (in the KA/SR transmissions) work with the Classic Instruments speedometer?
16 pulse per mile?

Thanks

I was told by a mechanic that our roadster speedo cable is not compatible with the KA speedo. That’s what he told me but he could be wrong. Anyone can correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes, the Nissan sender works with the Classic Instrument gauges, it is plug and play.

16 pulses per mile would provide a very, very coarse measurement...And 16 pulses per second for each MPH seems like a lot, too. Dunno, but it sounds odd...

As for the KA/SR to roadster...I am driving a roadster speedo and cable with the mechanical sender in an SR tranny. Works great...TR

Thanks Michael,
I thought so but had to check. Hard to believe but a '92 is too far back for a dealership to check. They have everything online now and don't keep manuals, so couldn't find the info....

Thanks guys,
I was a little tipsy when I replied last time,

You're right it's not 16 pulses per mile, it is 16 pulses per revolution of the sending unit. Big difference.

Michael, Alvin
I have a Green and a Black wire coming from the sending unit.
Is the Green the 12v power and the Black the signal? (no third wire so black can't be ground.....)

Thanks a bunch

Ah, that does make more sense, I was jumping to output and missing that they may be counting an intermediary 16 pulses per...

I checked out the gauge website, those look nice and thought out, a great looking product with excellent features.

That black wire may be a ground, most of what Nissan switches, especially into the ECU is a ground signal (safer and easier to handle), check a wiring diagram to make sure...TR

I'm a sucker for the stock gauges...I know it would be a lot cheaper and easier and better to go aftermarket, but I really like the appearance of the stock gauges.

I like your gauges Alvin, they fit the period well. The orange pointer on most gauges really ruins the appearance for me...

What are you guys using for the High Beam indicator light?

I was going to rig up a blue led in a chrome mount below/between the tach and speedo, but wondering about other ideas?

Thanks

On Wild Bill's car, I did exactly what you described, though I centered the LED in the space between the tach, speedo, and the oil pressure gauge.

I can post a photo if you really want to see what it looks like...
