Monterey Historics

Post by gpdatsun »

The recent announcement of Nissan being the feature marque at the 2018 Reunion has me seriously considering entering and trying to get my car out there and back from Madison WI area. Any advice on car haulers or any others going from this area that I can team up with?

Thanks in advance,

Bill

It is very odd that the "official" entry application window is closed already, then they announced this year's marque. They also just announced that Mazda is dropping it's sponsorship, maybe Nissan is thinking about stepping in and this is the carrot...
Lots of West Coast Datsun guys are trying to get entered now, best of luck, but in the past, closed meant closed.

I would encourage an email to the organizer, but that is just me. If the car is interesting to them, in light of the 2 days ago announcement, they might consider it?

Application submitted and I booked a room for the week so I'm going regardless! Supplemental to my form I added this from the 2010 Motorsports catalog.

The top picture is my car with Col. Joe, the middle picture is me with the car and the bottom is Bob Studdard's 2000 which Phil Mendelovitz now owns (and I think has also applied to go).

Sounds like lots of late applications (after the marque announcement) are getting good news this week. One buddy of mine got 4(!) of his Datsun/Nissans accepted. Gonna be a Datsunholic paradise that week in Monterey...

Congratulations to all who were accepted, if you're a fan this is the year to show up, JCCS meets race cars in a unique opportunity.

NOW WE NEED TO SHOW UP, the organizers have never had a featured mark for this event from Japan, we need to do a good job and show up, otherwise we will not see this again. Please vote with your pocket book as this is a site to be seen, a real piece of history on display of the cars we all love to drive.

There are car corrals through ZONC, Z Owners of Northern California, and this is going to be our weekend! There is a lunch time drive around that should allow you to drive your street car around the legend that is Laguna Seca Raceway.

Yes, all Datsun fans should purchase (discounted) race tickets, corral parking and parade lap passes through ZONC, info here:

Ok this sounds like an event worth attending, but how do I do the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance too.
What days at each event would be best to attend.
I have a friend in San Jose to stay with.

It is the event worth attending!
Monterey Car Week consists of several events including high-end auction houses, cruises, car shows and the big race:

The RMMR is from August 23-26. Any day during this period is great for watching the races, though Friday/Saturday are busier.
The Concours is on Sunday, August 26.
