I always wondered what color this part was supposed to be. It looks black

I think it depends on the year. I have seen chrome spokes on some cars.

I've got a OEM NOS steering wheel also, and the spokes are black. Looks like they are covered with a plastic. Mine came with the horn button attached. Still sits in the storage container in it's plastic bag

The NOS horn button that came with this one is in its own bag. (I knew this couldn't be the only NOS steering wheel out there!!)

That steering wheel wrap looks great! Which brand/size is it? I've seen several recommended on here.

I used this one from Amazon-

The large is the right diameter for our steering wheels but the width has to be trimmed for our skinny grips. You are supposed to lace it between the stitching but one side gets cut off. I just used the perforations and left the one side stitching as a highlight. The hard part for me was deciding what pattern to use around the spokes. Actually laced twice to change the first pattern I did not like. Two lace ups and a repaint was six-eight hrs. There is a part of me that wants to lace it a third time because I think I could do it better but Better is there enemy of Good Enough.

I did the project for appearance but ended up loving the feel of the leather grip. :D

The spokes are silver on my 69. It is titled as a 70 so that means it wasn't sold until 1970. Since I bought the car in August of 72 it is unlikely that is not stock. Perhaps the latter cars were changed to silver.

The price is definitely right on that wrap -- I'm a little nervous about 6-8 hours of stitching!

6-8 hours of stitching? I installed one from Wheelskins and it didn't take anywhere close to that long. Even double stitching wouldn't have been anywhere close to that long. Maybe I'm not as maticulous...
