Ok I messed with my timing now my car is a slug. When its cold(130") it backfires from the carbs a bit. And at around 3k it will stumble a bit vrrrrrr tu tu vrrrr tutututut vrrrrrrr, but when warm the backfiring would go away. So I decided to mess with the timing and got rid of the stumbling. Now the deal is I get a backfire out of my carbs when I rev it quick, and the car is a reeeeaaaallll slug! It revs slower and doesnt pick up like it did when it would stumble. Im stumped here im guessing the backfiring from the carbs is due to carbs too lean?? I need some help anyone know whats up?? Im not good with timing so I dont know what degrees its at.

Set your timing back to 16 degrees btdc. If you don’t have a timing light handy, you can borrow mine. When the engine is still cold you need to keep it choked till it warms up. You can't tune an engine when it is cold. Mine back fires too if I let off the choke too soon. I cruz by tomorrow (Thursday) evening and give you a hand if you want.

No more backfiring! Wooo! Thanks alot Yosh for doing the timing and adjusting my carbs. Went out bought some new plugs(didnt have cables) put some marvel mystery oil in the carbs and tapped the starter and it was smooth! I took her on the freeway and no sputtering at all!!! Now I feel more comfortable taking her out to shows. Thanks again.
