Hi! Just picked up a 68 1600 3 weeks ago. It's been sitting in a garage for 32 years. My first Datsun. I've been doing MG.s . In the middle of restoring a 1960 MGA. So another project seemed like a good idea. I thought I'd just get the 1600 back on the road quickly so I could drive it. Ha! Now it's in pieces in the garage. Hydraulics are rotted. wiring is fried. Got a little rust to deal with. Maybe by Summer. Looking forward to getting on the road. With some help and advice from the Forum.

Car was taken off the road in 1985. The engine was removed by the owner and rebuilt by "Warren Beatty" Datsun at that time. The engine is painted a really interesting GOLD color from the dealer. The engine was never reinstalled. There was a divorce. One of the guys in the MG club bought it 19 years ago as a mercy buy, to get it out of the lady's garage. It went to a his garage to be returned to the road. Well that never happened. He was going to list it on "Bring a Trailer" We were talking about how to list it. I Got the info to give to my neighbor, my wife heard about it. We went to look at it and it followed us home. Not going to be the quick back on the road fun to drive car we were hoping for. So the MGA is on hold. I'm hoping to get the Datsun on the road by spring. "We" decided it has to be painted before it goes back on the street. I'll try to get some pictures up when I can. I'll be asking questions later too.
