The R has a threaded fitting on inlet (i think)and a hose nipple on output. the U has two hose nipples. Other than that, no difference that I know of.

Garry Wasserman told me the U pump has a larger inlet pipe than the R, but you can use the U pump on the 1600.

Thanks. I broke done and picked up a new one. I hope to get in installed in the next couple of days. Then I'll be able to crank up the new motor.

Can anyone confirm this? The inlet on my U20 is slightly smaller than the outlet, however the metal line from the fuel tank is the same size as the inlet. Seems odd that the inlet would be smaller than the outlet, than again the return line is larger than the supply line. Go figure! Note, pretty sure I replaced the pump years ago, and not from dealer.
