Ted, thanks for inviting me to join you on the first part of your tour. The mist we endured driving to Blue Lake was fierce

Monday Aug 14. Redmond OR to Baker City OR. 330 miles

Drove into the center of Solar Eclipse "nuttiness".
Wonderful empty secondary roads all across N central OR.
There are still MEATLOAF Sandwiches at POST OR. Geographic center of Oregon!.
No bird strikes but did capture a batch/swarm of grasshoppers/locusts that attacked my grille.

Cool pics Ted. The wife and I ran into a herd of butterflies near Ukiah on the motorcycles. I felt bad as I like butterflies.

Wednesday Aug 16. Walla Walla to Redmond OR 391 miles.
More great Northern Oregon roads.
Stopped in Fossil and one of the few remaining really small town car dealers was still going strong.
WRIGHT Chevrolet with a 1950s era building and a 1 car showroom.
Plenty of Chev trucks in the lot behind.
Also in Fossil is the Fossil Auto Body shop where Stan used to work.

Thanks for all the pictures. I love getting off the main roads in this area and really taking in the sights. Hell's canyon is an amazing sight either from the road, a jet boat, or from the air. I'm just half an hour north of Clarkston. I wish I knew you were driving by, so I could have made the trip down just to see a couple roadsters drive by. I'm a new owner and I'm not sure I'm doing it right yet :)

Good to see these photos. Also, it looks like the smoke which plagued OR and WA ~two weeks ago subsided which is good.

Ya, it was terrible... we did a lot of driving during that time. I kept thinking "it will burn off" and then would correct myself that that was the problem! It's not cloud cover! It was so bad we could not see Mt Rainier, and there was no escape... Cascades, the Olympics on the peninsula, western WA, eastern WA... terrible. Saw Rainier for the first time in weeks on tuesday when we went to Mt Baker (so excited to do this drive, then discovered the road was closed during the week... bummer!). I think that is the worst I have ever seen for as long as I have ever seen it. Glad it's gone!
