Roll bar mounting points

I noticed in my trunk what look like factory mounting points for a roll bar. They are 4 threaded holes in a square arrangement on the back wall and also 4 on each side on the package shelf.

Are these for a roll bar, or something else?

My roll bar is bolted there, small bolts (1/4 or 5/16 ?) and thin metal for mounting a roll bar, but that's where they are on mine. Not really a safety device anyway, just looks cool and gives you a place to dry the wash towel.

Can you send me a picture of that Dave? I might try to have something custom fabricated. Send pics to eastmedia@aol.com
Thanks.

FWIW, if you take a look at:

you can see how I did the parcel shelf mounting on my bar. Not the strongest place to mount a bar, but at least I'm spreading the loads to two panels instead of one. The two plates were welded together and then the bar was welded to the resulting angle piece.

The main hoop is mounted thus:

The mounting plates are 1/8" plate, with 3/8" grade 8 fasteners. SCCA Solo2 rules say 5/16" grade 5 bolts are acceptable, but I wanted to go up one size and grade. The backing plates are the same size and thickness as the plate the bar is welded to.
