So I recently made a deal on a 67 Datsun 411 wagon. I will pick it up in a couple weeks. It is really straight and has no rust. The guy has a 66 411 sedan as well and if the guy who told him he would buy it doesn't show by the time I get there I am buying it as well! I have posted a couple pics of wagon. The sedan is extremely complete and very original (minus the front fenders) I have already found some fenders for the wagon. The plan is to put a KA24 and 5 speed in the wagon. Once I start the build I will update the progress.

Good luck Brian!!

These cars are fantastic but you will find that finding parts is extremely difficult. I have a nice 66 411 sedan it's a stock J13 and I adore every one of its 67 horsepower.

Cool car Brian. Are you sure you want to put a KA24 in it? It will be faster than your race roadster!

Here's a stroker going into a 411 at the shop:

Yes Alvin I know it will be faster than the race car. I want a reliable driver that I can take the whole family on trips in. I am planning on putting vintage air in it as well so we can ride in comfort. As for the availability of part, thank goodness it is mostly complete and I will only pay through the nose to service the brake system.

So I only planned on getting the wagon but the sedan was blocking it so I bought it too!! I drove to San Jose from the Reno area twice this past weekend to get them!! They were in a guys back yard and took a combined 7 hours just to get them out and loaded.
I will be selling the sedan as soon as I get a title in my name. The wagon will get restored but will have to wait until I finish a 67 1600 that I picked up a few months ago.

So I got started on the project. I got it into the garage and started to pull parts off of it. I got all the lights and bumpers off and the hatch handle off so it is ready for body work and sheet metal repair. I bought a set of custom brackets from Mike on Ratsun to do a disc brake conversion on the front. It uses G20 calipers and rotors. He supplies all new mounting bolts, castle nuts ect to do the swap. All I had to do was get the calipers, rotors and brake lines with adapters. I will be using a 280zx brake master cylinder with this swap as well. I have all the parts but the rotors as they needed to have the hub opening widened. Everything should be here in the next week or so to finish the conversion.
I attached a picture of the aluminum brackets after I primed and painted with high temp paint. The KA24 is still pending shipping from Sacramento but should get here in the next couple weeks. I included a couple pictures of the front of it so you can see how much lower the Roadster spring is compared to a stock 411 one. I will be doing the other side when completing the brake conversion.

So I finished pulling parts off and decided to start the rust repair. The only rust was in the rear bottom quarters. I cut it out and had to weld in the bottom structure first with some 16 g steel then I skinned it with some 24 g sheet metal. I finished the passengers side and got the bottom structure done on the drivers side. I then turned my attention to pulling the motor and trans as the KA24DE should be here soon. I spent some time cleaning the engine bay but it still needs a lot of work. I pulled the old carpets out and pulled all of the interior door panels. I should start the body work next weekend. Short of the rear quarters and hood there is very little to do so it should go fast.

Good project, will be keeping an eye how you get on. I like these 411's too, espically as they yield a few parts that fit my CSP311! For me, parts are also available for the Bluebird series in the far east and Japan.

So I finally finished putting the front disc conversion on the 411. I didn't tighten everything down with locktite as I will take them apart one more time once the new ball joints and tie rods come in. While I was under the front I changed the stock sway bar bushings out for some new urethane ones.

Will that kit fit under 13" wheels? Will it work on an SPL310?

It will not fit under a 13 inch wheel but does fit under a stock 14 Roadster wheel. I would have to check with the guy who makes these to see if the hub diameter on a 1500 is the same as the 411. If it is then this kit should work.
