Pilot bushing is pretty cheap, I would replace.

Personally I don't think the bushing is too much concern, (but I do always do use new bronze like Linda)//,but I don't like the disk surface, that must be one of the old sputtered chrome surface FW's. Looks like it's well into the AL from the photo, suggest having a shop check it out// j

You can buy replacement inserts for aluminum flywheels. It might be cheaper to buy a new aluminum flywheel than have a machine shop install an insert and balance.

Today I say farewell to an old friend
Life moves on, but I will not drive my car with a steel flywheel.

So it's time to work on the oil pan and see how the insides are holding up. Hope it's not too baffeling  maybe tomorrow morning when it's not 95 degrees I'll start again.

Bummer on the flywheel, but having one myself I do understand the desire to get a new one...

Okay well, decided to remove oil pan and replace pan gasket and take photos of baffle and pan.
Took some shots of the cam lobes too.

Wear seemed okay to me, there are a few lobes with edges worn a little funny (maybe just discolored) highlighted by the red circles.
This is the worst of the cam wear (red circles).

Oh yes an here is the pan to prove the baffle is in there in good shape.

IIRC, the cam should have a slight bias to one side of lobe, not cut flat across the lobe. The lifter should have a slight crown in the center - i.e. convex. As the lifter slides up the ramp, there is more pressure on one side of the lifter foot causing a rotational force on lifter. As the parts wear, the rotational force is reduced and the pattern starts to cover the entire ramp of the cam lobe.
I am a little concerned about the lower lobe in picture 2124rs, as the pattern covers the entire nose of the cam.
They should be OK for now, but it very hard to tell from the pictures.

Since you are this far into it and as i recall you run a pretty healthy cam, it might not be a bad idea to get it looked at. As you know, I've recently had some cam/follower issues. While the cam looked good to me, and Steve's quick glance didn't cause any concerns, Delta Cam noted some unusual wear and some "funny" parts to the grind such that they wanted to recut it (no, not to just make money!). Unfortunately they do not have the Z-197 Isky grind on hand and will have to put it in the cam profiler to copy it, causing more delay. I did get the rockers back (look great, but they probably cannot be surfaced again), so I decided to install my Racer Brown 341-R cam which we believe has less lift and more duration... not really the direction I feel I wanted to go in, but I had not compared this cam properly timed with the adjustable gear now vs the Isky, so I went with it. I already bit the bullet and ordered brand new rockers from Dean, so if I want I can run them with the Isky and compare. I have not run the RBrown cam on the street yet, just have it installed, timed as best I can and broken in... it started raining yesterday so the planned blast down the road was delayed.
Anyway, sure would be a lot easier to pull the cam now with the engine out than later!

Appreciate the feedback on the cam. Given I've only driven 5000 miles in the last 20 years, I'm thinking I'm good to go with the cam for now.
Having it looked at might be wise, but I need to get this together for a drive in October, and the engine and transmission are not the only project and I'm slow ... so ...

And my cam is a 0.475" lift and 266 duration racer brown grind from Oct 1974 (valves float at 8 K, rev limiter at 7700)
It's not bad for the street, and I recall a Sunbeam Alpine Tiger or two who were not real fond of me in my youth :D
I'll keep the stock 2 liters out of this ... :D

Next step for the next owner might be to step down to a stock cam.
Something not on my bucket list at the moment.

The pan is on but I can take it off ...

Hope you get the cam you want soon Greg.

Wonder if I'll ever go back to a stock fuel pump?
.... maybe ...
