Leaf spring pack center bolt

This bolt runs through the stack of leafs, then a spacer and nut:
As you can see, it got pretty mangled....the other one is worse. Part is NLA......shocking.
Any reason this cannot be replaced with a Grade 8 bolt and nut?

The bolt doesn't look all that bad for the wear. I'd consider replacing the nut and calling it good.

chase the threads on the bolt as well.

Unfortunately, that's the
"good" one. The threaded section on the other bolt is stretched so it has an hourglass shape and rounded threads....beyond chasing or even recutting with die. Added bonus: had to cut the nut off.
Might get one from the parts car, but it would be easier to just replace it with fresh and new if that's okay.
Yeah, I'm probably over-thinking this, but that's what I do.

I had the same issue. I replaced the bolt and made up the spacer out of some stock like this: -

Ahhhh.....my other favorite background color for parts.

Too bad Shutterfly doesn't provide URL to image so image will display in post.
Exactly what I needed to hear/see. Thanks, Graeme

I used to be able to save the image location with .img on the end but for some reason things have changed

Maybe I'm not holding my tongue right

Ha! Maybe.
Well, well.....I still have a long dormant Shutterfly account, which then allowed me to download your file, which I then uploaded to my 311s.org album (something else I only started using today), and.....voila!

So much nicer to see the pic in the post without clicking a link.
Edit (9 Mar 2023): Discovered pic no longer displaying, so downloaded Graeme's pic and added it directly for the next person.

Just wondering before I put it back together, does the bolt have to be flush with the top of the stacked plate or can I have the top of thr bolt sticking up? Not sure if it's resting on the axel? The original bolt was flush with a slotted screwdriver head and isn't available any more.

It's not flush:

The head just has to not extend past the top of Item 29.

Can someone post a pic of how they did this with a regular bolt and nut?

This how I replicated the unique bolt.
