Would you be interested in participating in the 51st Cherry Blossom Festival parade on Sunday April 22?
I'm trying to round up at least 10 roadsters. The parade runs from 1pm-3pm.
Post here or send me an e-mail: alvingogi AT gmail.com
More details to come!

That's a pretty cool opportunity! I will check with my better half... and will present this as the chance of a lifetime...when else could we be in the Cherry Blossom Festival parade!?! Being it is Easter Sunday, it may be a tough sell at home. I'll email you. Thanks Alvin!

Alvin, I dont think I can make it but I was curious, since it is a parade from 1-3 does that mean the datsuns would be idling for about 2 hours or so?

do stock roadsters do ok that long without having lots of air blowing through them or do they tend to overheat?

Yes, I would imagine your Datsun would be rolling slowly/idling for awhile.

Stacey I think you should start your own thread on this subject, with a detailed and thorough analysis.
In short, I think a Datsun Roadster will be fine idling, stock or not.

More details!

We have two options for participating in the festival on Sunday, April 16:

1) Drive in the parade: drive your roadster in the parade with a VIP (or 2) sitting in your car (4-5 cars total)

2) Car Show: Display your roadster in front of City Hall at the parade start or in Japantown at the parade end (5-6 cars total)

Both will require your roadster for the duration of the parade, 1-3:15pm. If you want to drive in parade with a VIP please make sure you do not run a hardtop/softop!

We can make a meet/gathering out of this with lots of driving possibilities as well. This is a great opportunity to showcase our cars!

If I can't procure 10 roadsters, the organizers will rent random cars. Let's keep it Japanese and represent with our roadsters!

I will post logistics as I get them in this thread.

Hi all,
I want to get confirmation from you asap. I'm assuming all of you want to drive your roadster in the parade. I know it is a tough day being Easter Sunday, but it will be a great way to show our roadsters.

ps...if you are not comfortable with a VIP sitting in/on your roadster that is totally fine! You are still welcome to drive in the parade.

Please send me an e-mail at alvingogi AT gmaildotcom
Thanks!

I'd be down for option 2 at the end or start of the parade In J town. The streets will be blocked off down by the plaza most likely.

All,
with a 90% chance of rain on Sunday I told the organizer that I will not be participating in the parade. If you are still interested please let me know.

I hadn't had a chance to work on the brakes this week. That and the rain will keep the Roadster in the garage on Sunday. Maybe next year.

Hello Bay Area Roadster owners!

The 51st Annual Cherry Blossom Festival Grand Parade will be held on Sunday, April 22, beginning at 1pm starting from City Hall and concluding in Japantown.
Last year there was a spectacular rain out, fingers crossed for dry weather this time!
https://sfcherryblossom.org/schedule-of-events/

The organizers are looking for ~10 Datsun Roadsters in "good condition" to participate in the parade/drive from 1pm to 3pm. Some cars would need to be willing to drive VIPs, usually sitting on the rear deck.
We have the option of having some cars in their own sectioned off parking area, as long as we have some Datsuns in the parade itself.

This is a great way to showcase our cars, and would mark the very first time that roadsters(or classic J-Tin) participate in the event!

If you are interested please send me an email: alvingogiATgmailDotCom
