SRL31102573 LIVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Post by mgslayer »

Well it's been almost 3 years but after adding anti freeze and gas, pulling the plugs to build up some oil pressure and get gas to the carbs, etc., my Beast started on the 1st try then died. Prayed to the Roadster Gods / Goddess', hit the key a 2nd time and GGGrowwwllll. It lives!!!!!!!!!!!!! Did get kinda freaked after it was running for about 2 minutes and there was smoke coming from the header, then I remembered I had put an Eastwood Hi Temp paint on it, lasted about 15 - 30 seconds and all was clear. (At least that's what I hope it was  ) Still need to balance the solexes. Using a unisyn the front carb is sucking almost double than the rear. At idle the rears are hardly moving the ball, but a blip of the throttle and they raise quickly. Guess I need to make sure the jets are clean to start. I'm a Solex virgin, so is there anything else I should check? Took it out for about a mile around the neighborhood and kept it under 3000RPM, hood still off, center console still sitting on the passanger seat, and I'm still grinning ear to ear. 8) The glass pack and Monza Twin tip gave it the growl I was hoping for.

Thanks
Mark
