As long we're plugging JT's work, he repaired a badly mangled early 2000 cam cover for me. It's beautiful! Thanks again!

Also, I too have a JT exhaust. It's very nice--and installation is a breeze

For a Solex 2000 setup with a B-cam, do you think 2" is enough? I would think the 2.25" would be perfect and a 2.5" a little overkill but good for future planned upgrades? How long and how much would one of those cost?

Simon, 2" is plenty for 99.9% of street U20s. The stock system is 1 3/4", so we are up by two sizes. I do build stock size systems for the originality gang, and occasionally do 1 7/8". For an NA engine, you don't want to go too big, that can be detrimental for torque. A solex U is still a normally aspirated 2000cc engine.

2" is a great size for the U and H20's and really opens things up. The only way you would need bigger is if you turbo, supercharge or get up over 2.2L.

(2" also does not require frame hacks/modification)

I'm interested in getting this system for my roadster. What would you recommend for a stock 1600? What advantages/disadvantages come with 1 3/4 vs 2"?

Peter, 1 3/4 pipes are just fine for a 1600. I'd only recommend 2" if you think there is a U20, SR or KA etc. in your future.
If 1600cc, 1800 or even SU 2000, 1 3/4 or 1 7/8 will be fine. J

I paid to have mine installed, worried I could not get the car up high enough.
In hind sight I could have done it.

Ordered mine today. I'm going with the 2". Looking forward to getting it. I'm hoping it the last piece of the puzzle. I'm soooo ready to get it back on the road. It's been 2 years.

Haha, I too ordered mine today. Going with 1 3/4 for my 1600 stockie. It will also be the last piece of my puzzle and it's also been 2 years for me!! haha. Good luck to you, here's to both of us getting our cars running once the exhaust comes through. Cheers.

Hopefully I'll start mine up this weekend. Going to get insurance today so I can register it next week. Can't wait to drive it again.

Within a span of 5 days I saw two of JT's SS exhaust systems installed on roadsters.

Stacey's '70 SRL(SUs):



I spent a few miles driving behind Stacey's roadster through some twisty roads...admiring how the stainless resonator shines when viewed directly from behind. Makes me think twice about painting it black...it's that nice!



Brian's '67 SRL (Solexes):




Both cars sounded fantastic at idle, revving and under acceleration. Hard to capture the sound via iPhone but I describe the exhaust note as "high quality"...FWIW!
I know I say this alot but it really is a great time for roadsters. Support folks like JT so we can keep the cars on the road.

Hi Jim,
I am looking for a 2 1/2 inch stainless system from the A pipe back. Running a turbo Ford engine, so my exhaust guy will have to fab the pipe from the turbo to the A pipe. My frame is already modified with larger openings (4 in. square tube) so x-member clearance is no issue.
Is this something you would be interested in?
