now I'm thinking it's the tachometer Maybe . but the book shows its for maplight , but I have the pushbutton in armrest kind . was there a switch for it too ? and if it's not the tack ( I don't think it is ) why isn't mine working ?

Appears to be the remains of the hand throttle cable...

Not sure why there is a choke knob on the light switch?

Second pic is place where throttle control cable connects to dash control. The cable connects to the bar the holds the throttle cable that goes to carbs. This bar is connected to gas pedal and is located directly behind the engine at the fire wall.

The throttle control is used to raise the rpms. I believe it is for fast idle carb balancing but some may use it for manual cruise control which, IMO, is very dangerous...

OK I'm going to have to read this a few times to get what u mean . it's normal for me to have to do that not your explanation .. haha some of these words are still foreign . I know the words but putting it alltogether in my head takes some work on this mechanic stuff

oh and the first picture thing , fits perfectly in that slot your speaking of so is that the throttle thing your speaking of ?

and what can happen to tack to stop it ? it's the only thing not working on dash . looks like it's connected up behind dash. but I'll have to get in there again to see now . been a few months since I've been in there

The throttle control knob is not needed for operation. There is a cable that connects the gas pedal (essentially) to a knob on the dash. When you pull it, car goes faster. Again, I believe its function is to raise engine speed while in neutral, so you can balance the carbs while engine is at running rpms, versus at idle.

The cable you are missing connects to the top of item 5 or 6 in this diagram

The top cable going into firewall is the throttle control cable.

idk . now I actually have more questions . now I thought my choke was in the center . I have both choke cables running to this odd thing that has a dial that had I have not been able to figure out H the top one on the center by the radio. that has them . and there's another cable thing in that picture I posted before #1 picture .. now why do I have 2 or 3 rather cables running into my firewall to controls . or is throttle control different than choke alltogether ?

Throttle is different. The throttle cable is to up the engine speed. Think fast idle

oh ok . im rolling with you now . so this thing in #1 picture is for that then going into the #2 pic hole . now does a cable run out of this or just a knob attached to it somehow inside dash spot for it ? I believe the cable is in there still . now it's dark and I'll need to double check in daylight tomorrow to be positive but I'll also look how it runs out and make sure it's connected to that bar your speaking of . I've seen that up in firewall area .

OK now anyone know , the bar I have in the firewall looks to take another cable ,I'm thinking this throttle control cable I need . but this pic has it going to the actual carbs somewhere .. where does it go ? or is it , it depends on what year your car is , thing ?
