I saw this on Yahoo news ...y'all might be interested
I do not know an easy way to link it here off android so google -how a Chinese Automaker can clone Porsche and still get away with it -
it's a Forbes article
It could be a way to get new Zotye 311's .... out of China , we send over one nice example and China can't help but clone it.
here it is or you will see it

There's a long history of asian "knock offs".
Heck, even our beloved roadsters have been accused of such a thing.

IMHO, copying is a fact of life. Nearly everything mimics something else, some more blatantly than others. At least they're not sticking a fake Porche badge on it. I suspect very few Chinese who would buy a new Porche would buy a clone.
So, really, how are they damaging Porche?

oh I don't know ...a bunch would jump at a nearly identical looking Macan for ,as the article says 1/3 the price
I would be interested in a nearly identical 68 311 with the 2L T brand new for $16-18 k
I'd guess that model is only sold in China

There's the thing tho...we know they only look the same. Drive train, suspension and driving experience probably not.
Car manufacturing makse great strides in it's early stages (remember the Japanese and Koreans??) so while fit and finish will improve over time, I'd bet the car is just what it sounds like , a poor knock off.
I'd bet Stuttgart isn't threatened.
If they start hanging Prorche badges on them and exporting them I'd have more issue with it.

Must be tough for different cultures and economies to understand the concept of copyright.

Probably cloned the Thule box too. In reality, where would you file a lawsuit anyway? They understand copyright, just don't care.
