Short answer tire question

Post by Howard R »

I'm running 185/60/14 tires. I want to change to 195/60/14's. In inches, how much taller and wider will the tires be? I don't need the formula on how to calculate the difference. Just the answer. I flunked algebra, and formulas confuse me. THanks, Howard

Well, according to Tire Racks calculator your overall diameter will be .47 inches taller. Close to 1/2" . I suck at mathematics too! 8)

Howard, come on we all know that (x-y)+z=(x-y)+z. According to Gordon's Garage Tire calculator 185/60/14 are 22.74 inches tall and aprox. 7.28 inches wide. The 195/60/14 are 23.21in X 7.68 inches.

I have the 195/60/14 with the 5.5in fake Libra wheels with the comp r/f springs and no rubbing. with my gold mesh 6.5 in.wheels I had to roll the rear lip due to offset on wheels. So 195 will work if you have the right offset.. Bill

Bill ,I am just buying some 195/60 14 Falcon Tires. They will be also mounted on Libra wheels. My car has stock springs.Do you think they will clear on the back without rolling the lips. Thanks Arnold SRL 00440

Arnold, I would say yes, I had my Libras on the car with some old 195/60/14 and no rubbing, then dropped the car down and still did not rub, then I put the wider wheels on and they rubbed in the rear with 195/60/14 Goodyears. Now I went to the Falkens/ Libra combo and love it. You will like them too..They really grab. Look up spl20777 in the registry and you'll see them on my car. Bill

Howard,

I'm now running Bridgestone Potenza RE71 195-55-14's. Late comp springs in front. Plenty of clearance. I was running 185-65-14 and these are definately smaller.

Why'd I get em? My local tire guy found em on the rack where they had been sitting for a while. $26 each :D

Howard,I had one of the Falken 195/60/14 mounted on American Racing libras. Lots of clearance on the back lips apox 1 1/2" from tire to fender. On the front the tires look to small. What springs are you running on the front of your car.I would show you with a picture but I do not know how to get it from (my pictures) to this site. Thanks Arnold
