Yahoo!

Just noticed that Champion now has an Aluminum Radiator for the '63 / '64 1500. Has anyone tried one of these out yet?

I am very tempted to buy this as my temps always register high. Not sure of the accuracy of the gauge, but this would give me peace of mind. I will wait until spring though as car is presently hibernating.

Will this fit in a early 1600? I hate the 1600 radiator with no fill.

Just use the 2000 radiator. That's what I'm doing on my '67. Replaced that stupid tower with a 240z water outlet.

That was my plan but I would prefer this.

Previously, thanks to the hard work by Mike Young, Ron Davis produced an aluminum radiator for the SPL310, but the cost was approximately $700.

This new Champion unit is in the low $200ish range.

As I recall the supports for a 1500 are a little different but this will work work with a little modification I believe.

The Champion 1500 is shorter and narrower than the Champion 2000. Don't know if that's good or bad, but you might want to double-check the dimensions.

For a '66, I'd go for the Champion SRL311 radiator, as it has a larger capacity and you can find even better pricing. I run one in my '66 SPL311.

I have an original 2L radiator sitting out in the garage. Just don't care for it. Was going to put the top tank on a 1600 radiator for a bolt in.

Why don't you care for the 2L radiator?

I don't care for the side filler.

I have seen someone add a filler to a stock 1600 radiator and it cleared the hood. You could do that if you don't want a custom radiator.
