Good point Michael. While I can't see the image (work firewall) the smooth surface and trim fit of the factory top is significantly different.
I assume they are pics of Eric Straw's or Alvin's top.
The supplier (potential supplier) is going to experience the same challenge Michael did in finding a candidate top to "splash", else the tooling time spent making a master will be so high that it may easily kill the business case. And there will be no, "I like one, but I want these kind of windows" options.
(let's face it, they will be saying something along the lines of "tooling cost / 20 equals per part tooling cost fee", not "tooling cost / 50..")
The gravy I served on part #21. Same challenge as U-20 timing components.

I like the fit of the factory top and the fact it's up on the trim vs. the paint. Still love the cool factor of the Triumph Surrey tops, if you're gonna do it,
go all the way :D

I'm with you. If they can figure out a nice surrey top, I'd be all over it. That way you can enjoy the sky above but have lower wind and noise levels in the cabin. At least that's what I would think. Be great for long drives.

So not to hijack this thread, but now that we seem to have "quorum", and have strayed into surrey-top category, what about interest in a hard tonneau that only wen behind the seats, enabling the choice / addition of a vertically mounted plexi wind deflector behind (or attachedto) the seatbacks.
The focus would be to try and make it:
1. common to low/high windshield models
2. small enough for removal and storage in the trunk (in case you do want to put the top up while out)

Sorry for the sidetrack. In reality, the surrey top is probably alot harder to engineer.

the trick is to get the removable overhead portion to be able to be stowed elsewhere in the car, you run into width issues. 914 did it. the taper we have to the narrower track in the rear does not help any with the challenge.
