suggestions for 68 2000 outer rocker panel sources

Post by gnalch »

Noob poster here. Working to bring a 68 roadster back to life. It appears the driver's side outer rocker panel is a goner. Any suggestions for a source for a replacement? Cannot seem to find any at the known roadster parts sites, and short of a fabrication I'm at a loss. Would appreciate experienced restoration suggestions. Thanks.

I got mine from Rallye. They are available as well from a company called Alpha something, who I believe started out selling parts for Alpha Romeos. A member here posted around six months ago about getting panels from them.

Do you have to replace the whole panel?
I fabricated both front end caps and about a 12" section around one jack hole, but covered the holes on both sides.
It's not a complicated panel.

I make outer skin rocker panels. Have made them for 20 years. $120 a side. In stock. No jack hole.

I should have thought of you Ross. Sorry. I just cut the jack hole out of the old panel and welded it into the new one.

The panel is swiss cheese from previous dent-pulling. Once we got all the bondo off the car (1/2 thick in places!) we could see the left side took a fair amount of damage somewhere along the way. Left rear quarter panel has been replaced--not well but replaced.

Thanks all-I'll send an email to Ross--also need a 68 hood-mine's cracked at the cowl opening. What fun it is getting down to metal to see what lies beneath the paint!

All of the hoods tend to crack there due to rust between the front and rear panels where they overlap. I repaired mine by cutting it all apart and welding it back together. It took a lot of time.
