Laguna Beach,Ca. 69 & 70 SRL311's

Just typing in to say hello from Laguna Beach Cali. I had a 68' 2000 with a VG30det for many years and it was my favorite car. Sold it when I moved out of state to Cali. Just bought a 69' SRL old solex track car in need of a full retore and a 70' SRL to restore with a frame off and doing a SR20det swap. I have no hate for the U20's......I just love 3-400 hp in this lightweight platform.
Any Socal'ers nearby?

Welcome from Santa Cruz!
You will have a lot of nearby Roadster owners in SOCAL. Don't be afraid to post pics!
And if there's anything I can say to convince you to keep the U20 in its current home and get a 1600 for your SR20 swap let me know

Welcome back to the fold! I'm with Aidan on the practicality of modifying a 1600 over a 2000. Buy hey, it's your car, do as you want!

Welcome back to Roadsters - no hate here for swaps! As long as you're keeping another of these great little cars on the road it's all good IMO.

Welcome. It is Nissan marquee at the weekly SuperCar Sunday Oct 9 in Woodland Hills.
Good chance to see Nissan owners and cars.
Last week the Bat mobile showed up with 2 celebs, Caitlin and Kylie Jenner.

I had plans many moons ago to shoe horn a VG30ET into a '68 I had... got the engine and trans etc but never go around to it and sold it off. I bet it was fun! Was going to bump boost up to 10-12lbs intercooled as I understood the stock computer and injectors could handle that much. Would have been a handful but fun! Welcome back.

I cant find my old pictures of it in place, sorry...too many computers ago. It fit nicely with a slight metal mod for the larger bell housing. Of course custom mounts and exhaust. The stainless headers I fabbed took some doing for sure. The stock suspension actually raised itself up a few inches due to the VG30 sitting just behind the front crossmember. Just enough room to change out and service belts! Perfect. Center of gravity improved!

I must've really been missing my ol 2000! I ended up buying this white 70' and two weeks later a yellow 69',lol. One is a driver and the other the bigger project.

Hi Mike, they are both needing FULL restorations and are complete but rough. The 69'-yellow(originally Spanish red) is one I'm trying to get running....so I can enjoy one while building the other.
I have a set of 16" Watanabe RS8's coming from Japan soon.

Look like good starting point for both. What do you need to do to the yellow one to get it running/drivable? I have 14" watanabes on mine, wish they were 15s.

Yellow one was a basket case of mix matched engine parts, carbs etc. I mounted the SU's which have the inboard float bowls along with an old mech. fuel pump and new fuel lines/filter and got it to turn over and sputter. I'm going to check the float bowls next as gas was flooding out the vent tubes.
It has a new yellow Accel coil, new battery and I've got spark.
I could use a clear diagram of the fuel line to carb routing as I'm finding little on the web. Its been decades since I've worked on a points carbed car.....brain fade!
