heater control cables for a 69
Does any have a schematic or photos showing how the control cables hook up from the control levers in the dash to heater/defroster unit? Mine are missing and would like to replace them. I searched the Tech Wiki and various books, but could not find anything.

You can make them from bicycle cables, remembering that you will need stiff wire since they PUSH as well as PULL.
The probably big pain is finding the clips that locate them at the heater end, if missing.

Re: heater control cables for a 69
The diagram shows a clip on each heater vent door. My 67 only has one and doesn't look like the other one broke off. Should there be two. The left and right door metal was bent at the centre. I repositioned it so that I believe it works correctly. When I open the left door the right door opens too. Not sure why the diagram shows a clip on the right door?

Re: heater control cables for a 69
On my 67 the doors are tied together and therefore open at the same time. The heat/defrost cable attaches to the left door. I believe, the cable originally had a "L" shaped bend in the wire where it attached to the door so it would pivot. I replaced mine with a choke cable from my local auto parts store and attached it to the door with a small screw through a round bend I made in it with needle nose pliers. Same thing on the other end where it attaches to the control arm. That isn't all I did to get the whole thing to work correctly, not enough space here, but should get you on the right path. Good luck!
