Help!, I spent the last year tracking down parts, getting my 1600 engine back together. taging everything as best I could. Got the engine in, all together and I think I have the wiring messed up on Coil, I have the general wiring diagram, but it is deficient when it comes to the wiring of coil, anyone have more detail, sure would appreciate it. Also getting spark from the vacume advance tube when it touches body, is that ground or wiring from coil messed up> I sure could use any input, thanks.

RE:Wiring Coil
It is really pretty basic but it does sound like you have something shorting out. A black and white wire come from the ignition switch through the ballast resistor to the + side of the coil. Then a solid black wire goes from the - side of the coil to the connection on the outside of the distributor. Shorting can be caused by a worn/frayed wire that goes from the housing to the igniton points themselves inside the distributor. Let us know how you do.
