So i contacted smoothline and they do not currently make a low windshield hardtop. But they did say that if someone could bring their low windshield roadster in to the shop so they can see the differences and hopefully make some low windshield tops. They said whoever brings their car in will get a good deal on a top.

They are located in pittsburg. So anyone over in that area on the east coast who is willing, contact them or contact me and i will get you in touch!

Went to their website.
That's a nice offer they've made Chris, of a deal for the first low windshield owner to come in.

Did you notice that their online model listing for the 311 is a little off? I mean, we all know what would be what, but as a courtesy I sent them an email that they consider a couple of tweaks --

1968-1970 (instead of starting at 1967)

1600, 2000 (since their top would fit both)

Chris,
Try contacting Les Cannaday at CDM:
http://www.classicdatsun.com/

Not a Smoothline product, but last I heard Les was making a Nissan Factory hardtop reproduction

I owned a smoothline top for my high windshield car and it was awesome. Great fit and it looks really good. I hope someone takes them up on the offer for the low windshield top so that I can get one :-)

Cheers
James

Yes, I had a high-windshield top from the company's predecessor Parrish Plastics, and agree it fit well.
The wraparound rear window was cool, too, both from aesthetics and visibility.

interesting. I have a hardtop that needs some work. I'm not sure if its worth getting a new one (if i can) or paying to have this one made pretty. Also finding someone i trust to do the work is not easy either.

I went to his site and he has nothing about the tops there. I will try giving him a call. Thanks.

Can't believe that no one is jumping on this. A free smoothline top? Nice.

Let us know what he says Chris. I'd be very interested in a low windshield factory hardtop repro. I sent an email inquiry to him this morning.

If I get my Roadster running in time to take up that offer, I would likely be in. I am in Indiana, but my parents are about 2 hours from Pittsburgh, so wouldn't be a big deal to me to run over. Obviously I need to be driveable to do that though!

I just spoke to Jack at Smoothline and he is going to use my car for the low whindshield hardtop . They need to see if one of there high winshield tops will fit on the body , are the high and low windshield cars the same where the top sits ? Will he just have to lower the top to fit the winshield frame ? He sounds like a great guy . Not sure how long i will have to leave my car there , hope he will only need it for a few days

What "style" of hardtop are they making? Factory or their own?

Thats awesome! I'd love a "factory" style hardtop as first choice. Never heard back from Les Cannady after emailing him back in April about a factory style top.
