bumper restrictions

I'm trying to gather more options for front end modification. I live in seattle and don't really know what you can and can't get away with. So far I think my favorite is Mr Glasgow's 2000 with the center removed and re-chromed. I don't know what they are called, but the little bumpstop-ish things that all the old hot rods roll with.
My real reason is, I'd like to just take the bumpers off all together. I like the way the old race prepped datsuns look. Any advice?

I like the looks of the roadster without a front bumper. These days most cars have integrated, body-colored bumpers, so a cop might not notice that you don't have one. I'm pretty sure that if your car is registered as a classic in Washington you don't have to run a front license plate.

I've thought about using some of those VW bug t-bars, or racer tow hooks instead of a bumper.

I have a bumper that someone started cutting. You can have it if you want to give it a shot. You'd probably have to weld the cut ends and have it rechromed.

I'm in Seattle, in Magnolia. Send me an email.

I grew up in Seattle and still have friends and family there. Unless things have changed, you can get away with just about anything as far as mods go. They'll nail you if your car is too low but it has to be essentially sitting on the ground for them to do it. Basically, you can't have any portion of the car stick down below the lip of the wheel. That way, if you get a flat, you can still roll off the road.

As for bumpers, I had no bumpers at all on my 510. No one ever said a word. Not even the Seattle cops who pulled me over on a number of occasions for other offences like a broken headlamp, speeding, no seatbelt, etc.

I say, forget the bumper overriders. They are ugly as all get out!

Cool and coooolll. I was thinking racing tow hooks would be pretty slick too. One thing for sure is it's changing. I don't wear a front plate and it is registered with col plates. I'd like to make a functional custom roll bar as well.

And Leigh,
It's Dustin, We met last summer when I was adjusting my free play outside a buddies house. I borrowed your unisyn too. Know anybody with a local hookup on seats's? I still have your phone #, I'll give you a call sometime.

Thanks all

Hey, Leigh, there it is! Better than the person on the list who said they couldn't remember who they loaned their UniSyn to over ten years ago. :P
