Roadster spindles - alternate application

Hi all,

I have a bit of a strange question, but I'll give a little bit of background. I am (slowly) in the process of building an SR20DET-powered "Locost 7" roadster, which will use an upper/lower A-arm front suspension. I will have to fabricate the A-arms. I have acquired a pair of 311 front spindles (Thanks, Sam), which are in theory perfect for the Locost application, because of their smallish size and their A-arm compatibility, rather than requiring struts for the top mount point.

The spindles I have are just bare spindles, with no brake brackets, backing plates, steering arms, hubs - no nothing.

The question I have is: are there any other stock Datsun hubs, steering arms, brake parts, ball joints, or tie rod ends that will bolt up to the stock 311 spindles? I tried the hubs from a friend's '73 240Z, and they seem too "deep" to fit the roadster spindles. Are there any other models which might interchange some or all of these small parts, or are they all 311 specific?

Thanks in advance!

Vince

Just a thought, but what about Ford Mustang II/Pinto spindles. These are almost the standard of hotrodders and kitcars, everything is available cheap, and the balljoint taper will match CHEAP available ball joints

Also your brake options are much larger and cheaper.

Just my 2 cents, worked on many old Mustang II's and had this suspension on a kit car, all were easy cheap and worked well.

The Mustang II pieces are no doubt a good option for most kit cars and street rods, however they are actually (almost) too beefy for the Locost application. Their height does not lend itself to working well with the Locost suspension geometry, and they are sturdy enough for full size cars whereas the Locost weighs in at about 1500 lbs. curb weight.
