I'm putting a stereo in the glove compartment. Where do you suggest I connect the (hot) power wire? Also, if I disconnect the battery, will I lose my station presets?
Thanks, Howard

You have plenty of options on the hot/power wire. You do need to decide whether the radio will work with the key off or on.
As to the station presets, I don't know if really new radios retain that info in memory. I do know that the ones in my 2002 vehicles do not.
Cheers.

I have one wire to the ignition, so the radio is on only when the key is turned to accessory. But I also need a hot wire so the clock and presets are powered. What are some of the options you mentioned?

How about the stock clock power? Back when I used to put big stereos in 510's, we always ran a homerun wire direct to the battery. The clock wire would work, but I don't know if the wire gauge would be large enough. Maybe somebody can chime in if they know the wire size and if it's fused.

I worked on it last night. I opened the back of the fuse box and screwed the wire to one of the terminals. Then connected an inline fuse just to be safe. I don't know if a pro installer would do it this way, but it worked.
