Another new guy

Post by Cyclewrks »

After a 30ish year long break from the Datsun family (before this it was all 510's), I bought a roadster! Car is a non running '70 1600, it is an unfinished project that has bounced through a few hands before I caught. The bones of it look decent and it should turn into a good driver. Engine seems like it won't take much to get back running, brakes are a different story......

Welcome back. I had a similar break after my first 510 and then Roadster, but you're always family here! Let us know your location and post us up a pic of your project baby!!

Welcome! I had some initial brake issues with mine as well. The good news was that the parts I needed were readily available - also the folks on this site are very knowledgeable and always willing to help.

Welcome, nice to add to the extended family. Not sure what your experience has been with other car sites, but this group rocks!

Turns out the car has a 5spd! There was a bracket of some sort hidden under the shifter boot that was keeping the shifter out of the 5th gear position when I had looked at the car..... bolt hole in the transmission and the block plate don't line-up and I just caught it. 5spd, 40dcoe (Italian) weber carbs.....wonder what other surprises await, definitely think I need to break out the degree wheel and check the cam now.
