FYI Electronic Ignition Warning

Just something to keep in mind. The Crane XR-700 electronic ignition system and maybe others, will put out a nice fat spark when the ignition is shut off, I think it's a capacitor discharging. There is a warning in the instructions No big deal if the engine is running when the switch is shut off, BIG deal when you turn on the ignition and turn it off without starting the engine. First time engine turned about 1/4 turn when it fired, second time popped back through the carburetor, nice cloud of smoke, small heart attack on my part, then remembered that little note in the instructions. I don't know of any other brand systems specifically that do it, but worth knowing. Guess there is a potential for either a carburetor fire or if you are in gear, the car moving.

Other than that, the ignition is great.

I'm guessing Gary Boone's don't do this or I would have read something here.

Right you are --no backfiring with a GB EI Dizzy. Just quick starts and smooth running. I had a Crane XR-700 in my Z car for quite a while. When it died it left me stranded. No spark at all. I now run a GB EI Dizzy in the Z car as well. Same thing-quick starts and smooth running engine.

I'm giving it a week of playing around, then it's a GB distributor and a set of cerbs from Keith
