Hey guys,
I want to rechrome my head and rear light cases. I want to Do the most of the prework for the chemical process by my own.
But i don't know exactly how to do this.
The head Light cases are okay. Only small dents which i want to Fill up by Hard solder.
#1:
Which one would you use? Silver or Copper Material?
After filling i would grind it flush and bring them to a nice finish.
#2:
Which grain sizes would you prefer?
After grinding. .. (pre)polishing
#3:
My rear light cases were unprofessinally dechromed. So the have small rellatively deep spots on the surface and i don't know if i can solder this too.
I will post pictures of this Parts.
I would be very happy for your comment!

Re: How to prepare parts for rechroming
I would choose a plater to work with and follow thier advice carefully.
The platers are the experts at thier trade. If you want good results follow what your expert tells you.

Re: How to prepare parts for rechroming
My advice is to let all the prep work be done by your metal polisher of choice.
He is the one that has to warranty the final product and if not prepared to his specs. he will have to undo/redo your work: read $$$$$$$!
At the very least, discuss with the polisher what you CAN do and HOW to do it.

Nissanman, just trying to help.

Re: How to prepare parts for rechroming
I am with Nissanman on this one. Leave it to the professionals. The plater will be able to tell you if what you currently have is use-able or not. You could possibly find some better cores at a reasonable price. Sounds like these are pretty buggered.
