Rare, but check for a Japanese or OZ car being parted out, swap out the entire column. ign on the right, ts lever on the left.
you could also cut the column tube, rotate it 180 and weld it back together, might bang your knee on the ign switch tho.
you would have to carve a bit of dashpad away too.
I have seen early columns in late cars as well.

David, I like your "out of the box" thinking! Cut, spin and weld is a pretty elegant solution!
After spending fun time in the roadster I find myself reaching for the turn signal on the right when driving my other cars. Somewhat dangerous in the MB with it's small gearshifter lever!
