carb short ram pipes datsun 1969 1600cc

Post by jayd »

hello everybody
car in France, everything is going perfectly.
Time for some "improvements".
I own the car that is described up, equiped with some SU "copies".
I've seen many pictures with some short ram pipes, coming from SU for sure.
Anyone of you knows what is the part / reference to order ?
Cause i've asked to SU directly and they noticed well the carbs are a copy and not coming from them. So they don't know how to help me.
I'm sure btw that the pipes are not the same than the ones that go on a triumph TR6 engine, as i've got a tvr with this engine. I tried the swap and it's not fixing (SU HS6).
wht do you think about this ones ?

many thanks in advance

Greetings Jay, what is on there now? Any filters? Stock? Ram pipes can help some, but I wouldn't expect a huge difference in power. When was the engine tuned last? Making sure everything is well adjusted etc is the first place to seek improvements on an older car like ours. Does the car have the emission controls on the engine that were required in the US? If so, properly removing and adjusting the engine to a pre-emissions condition would also improve power. We're happy to help!

Only design purpose!
For the Time being
Emission controls are off and not delivered with the car

Ok. Ram pipes like this look cool, may help some with airflow, and the ones pictured appear to offer some basic protection from sucking in rocks, bolts, etc. However, there is some evidence that screens at the end of the horn tend to reduce airflow. They certainly won't replace a good air filter to protect your engine from the fine particles that will cause engine wear. One option would be to buy some horns without screens and get some foam filters or socks that fit over them? You might try Dellorto.co.uk.
