Well I was inspired to do some painting today and here are the before and after pictures.

Started with the 68 1600 shift plate I had in the car (see it next to the old 67 plate) I did some silly things in my teens with the shift boot.

Got some of this at the local hardware store:

Then the result is

Like the result with the textured paint. I still need to cleenup from the overspray when someone (not me) painted the darker color. Think this was factory overspray? Some of it is poor taping be me but not all of it.
Anyway closer to 67 style. Still not sure when or if I will paint the dash. Thanks to all for the input so far.

Textured, THAT's what I used, I couldn't remember if it was hammered or something else. Looks great!

Sorry for what may be a stupid question, but what is stock?

I've not seen a ton of roadsters, but some are chrome, some are paint/powder coated.
Mine is an early '67 and the shift plate is chrome.
The finish on mine is pretty worn, so I was considering powder coating it.

Faded stock for a 67 on the left of the first picture a textured grey with a chrome ring. Chrome is not stock except the edges.
So kinda like your nice powder coated dash with a chrome edge, like I'm attempting to do in the last picture. I'll publish another
picture in a couple of days with the final result.

Update to this thread, I could not remove every thing I wanted to so I taped up some of the remainders with electrical tape.
Works a lot better than masking as I could mold it around the items:

Here is how things looked before the first coat of Textured paint (on all but the shift plate cover that is)

Will publish final results on Sunday or so after "final" coat of Textured paint
