that is a water valve to turn off hot water to the heater core in the summer. keeps the inside cooler.

so, the switch is currently pointing towards the manifold.
Is this the ON or OFF position?

If the valve handle is perpendicular to the water tube coming out of the rear of the intake manifold, the valve is open. That is, hot water going to the heater core. If the valve handle is parallel to the water tube, the valve is closed, thus no heat can emit from the heater core as there is no hot water to enter. Hope this helps.

Thanks, very helpful.
these days are cold, and I've turned on the fan w/out
feeling any warm air.
I'll try switching the valve to perpendicular, and hope
this gives me warm air.

thanks again,
