The only spec I found in my repair book was the pedal free play. No spec given for pedal height. Brake pedal free play .31-.47 in. Could there be some mechanical issues with the rear brakes or hydraulic plumbing issues ? Good luck, John-Lugoff, SC

I had that happen to me with a Plymouth once back in the day of shoe brakes in the rear. The problem was just that the rears were way out of adjustment. I had to stop very abruptly once and the car wanted to swap ends.

I just finishing bleeding the clutch and I'd like to adjust the pedal height and clutch free play. Current pedal height is 9 inches above the firewall and well outside of spec. Clutch engagement is also very high (which is probably the reason for the high pedal).
Pedal height adjustment looks pretty straight forward and I read the techwiki on freeplay adjustment at the slave.
My question is which should be adjusted first? Disconnect pedal, adjust freeplay then pedal height? Any tips or tricks is much appreciated. TIA
