wheel locks, lug nuts

Post by baldandtopless »

i recently purchased a 70 1600 more than a month ago and i have just purchased some wheels for her. i was wondering what size/thread or any suggestive style of wheel locks/ lugnuts you guys use. unfortunately i live in an area where my cars have been targeted by thieves a number of occassions, my q45, my 240sx convertible and coupe, and my daily driver civic hatchback! i switch which cars go in my garage space so im taking all the precautions with this classic. also, any suggestions on longer wheel studs besides the corvair studs? any info. would be much appreciated. thanks!

The stock roadster studs are 7/16. As to what type of lug to use it all depends on what the rims require. Some of them take a long shank, others a short shank or maybe just plain tapered. Why do you need longer studs? Are you planning on using wheel spacers or something? You can get longer studs at most auto parts stores. Putting them in is another matter completely. I used 12MM studs from a Z car for my mini-lites. Since 12MM is a tad bit bigger than 7/16ths I had to have my front hubs and rear axles redrilled to accept the 12MM studs. I am using Maxima lugs to hold my rims on. Hope that helps some.

yeah i will be using spacers and will be going with a wider body (overfenders). i just got a set of 15x8 0 offset, 8.5 -6 offset watanabe rs 8 spokes. http://www.takumiproject.com/PDT/c0403078.htm

dont worry i wont be using the stock motor to get these spinning. ive had a spare ca18det in my backyard for a little over a year waiting for a transplant, and i think its time.

thanks for the info.
