KA or any engine mounts

Hello to all the KA swappers out there. I've been looking throu the archives now that I'm doing a KA swap and I have a question about the motor mounts. I'm curious about what motor mounts others have used in the past (not just on KA swaps but others too) and I though others would be curious as well. So I was kinda hoping swappers would list the mount they used and maybe a pict of the mount. I remember seeing some creative mounts at Solvang and thought it would cool to show them off. It's just an example of how there are many solutions to any problem.

I think you mean motor mount brackets.....LOL...but I am going to take you literally.....

I have used Volvo 164 mounts because they have a single bolt on each side and are cheap....~$10
They are getting hard to find at the local auto parts store, so I keep a spare set on hand.
They are normally mounted at 30° to 45° angle with a slot in one of the mounting plates.



My new favorite mount is a dodge mount: 1974-93 Ramcharger/TrailDuster ALL
1969-71 Dodge Full Size Pick-up 225, 1972-93 Dodge Full Size Pick-up ALL
Its a "safety" mount with tabs that keep the engine from coming "loose"
The best picture I could find is a poly replacement for $$$....stock are about $10-$15 and are still available at the local parts stores.


Many use the 620-720 or other L series mount.

Found this when looking for a picture for the 620-720 mount.
This appears to be the engine side mount bracket modified for a 620 mount.

The couple KA swaps I have done (non roadster) I have just used the stock bracket that I cut and reweld to match the angle of the crossmember, kinda like Phil posted. Just used the stock KA isolator more looking toward future availability more than anything.

Peter, I don't think we are there yet (using old mounts)........

If you need mounts, I will look....I am pretty sure I have a set or two in the junk.....
I found a used 2000 oil pump last month....its lost again by now in the shed, 3 storage lockers or was it the garage..........

I am looking to see the mounting brackets but I think it would also be very cool to see picts of how they were attached to the frame. I remember seeing a varriety of mounts in Solvang. From ridgid to using toyota isolators and so on. I'm just curious as an engineer to see the varriety of solutions people come up with. I have learned that there is no such thing as a "best solution" but rather just different solutions. There are infanite solutions for every problem! This is an exercise of curiosity .....oh ya and i'm totally researching the way I will be mounting my engine...you know the whole inventing the wheel thing

The most important decision would be what you want to do with the car.. Then you will have a basis for making decisions about where you want to go.. Just my opinion..

I get what you're saying that per the intended use of the car will be a starting point for the engine mounts to be used on a given vehicle. But I'm curios to see how others may have approached and come up with solutions for there given uses of their roadsters.

I myself am going to use this car as a weekend "showior" or for trips to Solvang ect. not a track car. I'm going with, at this point, the L series clips with mounts to be fabbed to the frame.

Again I just thought it would be cool to see how others mounted their engines given their use for the vehicle.
