Did anyone here buy it?

$10K in work produces @8K in sales - all goes to restate - buy the best you can afford.

Looks like they set the reserve too low or just wanted to get rid of it.

Looks like a '68, based on gauges, knobs, no side markers, and rear bumper.

Sad looking car, including the "Corvette" brand of paint someone used.

The valve cover, first thing you see when you raise the hood, made me go EEWWWW with its "correct" Datsun blue, sprayed generously about the area.

I bet they sold it to cut the loss after realizing it needs a lot more work. And with all the petty problems you can easily see, it makes me wonder what the "refurbished" engine has suffered.

Seller did well to draw a sale at $7250 in my opinion, what with cracked dash, incorrect interior bits, poorly sprayed engine compartment, wrong clutch master, missing backup light "in working order," and the "original" aftermarket lug wrench.

I wondered about the fender mirrors being a bit far forward, but that's okay since there's an aftermarket door mirror included, and it's mounted on the door.

Wonder about the spare tire. Oh, and does one need a lot of undercoating in Texas?

Then again, back to an earlier discussion on here about market value, perhaps this kind of price on this level of car bodes well to validate the market for any of us selling.

That was what I was thinking, with all the little things that someone in a garage with a long evening could do to give this car a LOT more curb appeal, that seemed more than fair.

Mike I'm glad you pulled out that nugget about valuation.

I almost went back and deleted or softened what I had written, but came back to it saying YES, someone has been deceptive in this auction, and I hope the buyer hasn't been taken advantage of with a myriad of problems soon-to-be-discovered.

It's a cliche to say "bottom line," but someone did feel this car was worth more than $7K.

And if they check in here I hope I'm among the first to welcome them and offer any help I can provide.

I Strongly Disagree......Might have a very nice body...can't tell from the pictures.....

Cheap slip covers and after thought of painting the engine are RED FLAGS.

If she had good side trim and was close enough to check properly It might have been a worth looking into.

Maybe it has New Brakes, front suspension, wheel bearing........Tires look new.

I hope the new owner brings her back...........

If it's mechanically sorted (as mentioned), this is a very clean, very nice, very complete 1600.
I'd pay that much for it, knowing how much I spent on mine (pre engine swap!) to get just halfway to that point.

Just saw on Facebook that this car spotted at the Houston auction this week.

Yep, It was at the Dan Kruse Auto Auction in Houston this week.

Couldn't stick around to watch the car go through auction, but the condition comments by most of the folks were correct. Will upload a few pic later today.

Weird...

When I got to the auction, I don't think the car had yet gone through the auction. Yet, there was already a flyer saying on the seat the car had bid up to $7K, but no sale.





Though you can't see it, the Clutch master was missing its cap!
