Date: Sat 11/22/14
Location:17233 Hemmingway Van Nuys, CA- Peter Harrison's house . Look for the green gate-
Time: 9ish- or whenever you can show up
text or PM, if you might be able to join in. Tools, gloves, soda, food, fun provided
Thanks!
Linda

You didn't say beer, so I'm not coming. Oh, and the fact that you are 1100 miles away might have influenced my decision also.

Linda, Does one foot on the bumper and pointing count as help? Don't want to over do it as I'm recovering but I'll try be there for morale support.

Greg,
My car's engine could use some freshening up since it had never had anything done to it since I have owned it. It was starting to make a few noises so I figured now is the time. I found a spare R16 and tranny from a local owner in late May, and rebuilt the engine, heavily coached and mentored by Bill Cole over the internet. Bill is very smart! Then with some work by a cool machinist, Ron at RD Machine, I now have a engine to swap in. Took a while and was a bit of a challenge, so I'm excited to see how it all works out! Fingers crossed LOL
I intend to post some pics as soon as I get them organized. Here's one, almost finished:

Do you try to fit the engine including the manifold and the gearbox before?
I have had different times problems with that, the engine out is not so difficult, but back in give problems at the frontside of the manifold and the chassis. I don't now how others did it, but I have to mount the manifold later.
Good luck Saturday, and I hope you get a lot of help Linda.

I dropped in a U20 with header and Solexes still attached. It is possible.

With a header it's maybe possible but with a manifold?
I ask Richard and he has the same problem with the manifold.

Peter,
It's tight, but certainly doable (4 times - so I know) LOL

Thanks Peter for the info. I can easily take off the manifold or swap to the header if needed. I think the exhaust header has greater clearance.
