'68 on the road?

Well, it's been three years since I took the plunge and bought a sad '67 that "ran when it was parked," two years since Cole provided a decent body and one year since Tom (Notoptoy) swapped the motor with little help from me and my son. The '68 has been at the mechanic's for three weeks while they sorted it out and made sure I had made no fatal mistakes. I was getting increasingly worried but got the call from the mechanic today apologizing for the delay. It seems that I (read Tom) made no major gaffs- they have just been having a lot of fun working on it and "test driving" it!

I plan to pick her up today and actually drive home (without a hood or any lights, but drive it I will with Dylan running interference). She Who Must Be Obeyed has OK-ed the funds for body and paint work, I have a really cool new stainless early resonator, upholstery, and trim work to install. I'm sure there will be lots of other things but...IT LIVES!

Thanks to all, especially Tom, for the help and support that got us to this point.

Wow! Congratulations!
Maybe I should run by before I leave town today? Want a fellow Roadster to run interference? Missing anything I might be able to provide?
Who did your work?
Tom,

Picked her up and drove her home. Unfortunately, Tom had already left town and was not there.

Engine seems sweet. Started right up with no choke. Pulls strong. Steering is tight and suspension seems about right. Transmission seems about right and clutch has no problems.

First priorities:

Get brake lights working, get temp gauge working, adjust brakes. Brakes seem to be at about 20%. She is not really safe to drive yet. I'm hoping that adjustment is all that's needed.

Second priorities:

She is loud, I mean really loud (and I like loud)! Right now she only has a single Cherry Bomb as a muffler. While I have the rear up I will try to fit my stainless resonator and hope that it mutes things at least a little. Otherwise, my neighbors may complain.

Carbs seem reasonably balanced but I'm going to wait on my resident expert Tom to mess with them. Maybe we can install one of his electronic ignitions at the same time. When are you returning to the Tarheel State, Tom?

I've got a line on an "after hours" body and paint guy and plan to talk with him this week.

Low priorities:

Too many to name.

Single picture of the engine bay below. My son has a couple of video clips to prove that she does move on her own power but he is having problems uploading them. Hope to have them soon.

Congrats!
It is nice to drive it even if there are few problems :)
