"Alvin Style" hardtop with roof cat option.
What better way to spend a wet Wednesday than retrieving a roadster.
Dave (Pebbles) took his enclosed trailer as he had cash and meant business.
1966 roadster #4416 with low #(3318) 2000 A cam non smog head motor and 5 speed.
The upper chain tensioner foot was holding the cam cover on! Not a good sign for the engine internal condition
and chain was no where to be seen!. Cam looked in good shape. Original cast exhaust manifold.
The hardtop was in good condition with couple of surface stress cracks and 1 cracked side window.
Hard top is already spoken for if Dave decides to sell it.
Body in terrible rusty condition. RF fender may be useable.
A couple of odd mods were discovered.
Seat were fiberglass buckets from 63-64 1500. In good condition.
67.5 2000 Tach and Speedo. NICE.
Nice horn button.
Wheels were Z steel wheels and Hubcaps.
Wet steep hill retrieval went well with sellers Land Rover pulling the roadster with no problem.
Seller had NO knowledge of roadsters and did have a non running high windshield under a tarp.
The Roof Cat had disappeared.
Stopped at the Willow and Jim's Country Cafe for and appropriate lunch of biscuits and gravy!
As is proper for Roadster fanatics we scraped and cleaned to get the numbers. No Vin plate.
A successful roadster rescue with parts worth more than the price. Body will not survive.
