Hello my name is Mike and my wife is Karen and we just recently bought our new pride and joy 1967 Roadster S/N 10301. A picture of it is in the registry from where I bought it from. What a blast to drive, its like a go cart. The body, engine and frame are in great shape. Interior needs new carpet and my clock is wrong. Was missing passenger, trunk, console locks so I bought the Valet kit from Paul Wells sweet set by the way.
We really like this website and look forward to some conversation and the occasional 'what do I do now' help.

Some cars have the clocks wired only to work when the ignition is on (engine running). Mine is wired that way to prevent a drain on the battery.

Welcome, all questions welcomed, we have all been there, and going back over the basics is good mental floss.

When you put in the trunk lock, these cars are famous for the trunk lock to spin in its hole, locking you out. So put a trip wire on the lever n the trunk that hangs down thru the trunk floor. (s/b in the Wiki) Lots put one on the hood too, although I have never used mine.
I used the materials in a "picture hanging it" from Home Depot for the trip wire.

I second Fergus' mention of the remote hood and trunk release cables. Saw a very nice Roadster having its trunk lock being punched out with a hammer and screw driver at Shasta last year when the lock spun or broke (damaged the rear panel too). It finally prompted me to install the cable release so that doesn't happen to me. It is very simple and requires drilling a small hole in the trunk floor, attaching a zip tie to the latch and hanging it down near the frame. The average Joe will never know it's there. Same kind of thing done with the hood latch where you route the zip tie through the firewall so you can reach it. Rarely needed, a critical save when you do! Check the site for any how to info, or ask here and we will describe it better.

Welcome, aboard! Although I have not been here long these folks on the Forums are a fantastic resource.

It's roadster driving weather in Houston!

Since you're in Houston you need to know about Steve's VW Lock Shop - he's a local guy that works on classic car locks. I have had him re-key lock cylinders for me so they all match and he's also made keys, etc. You can google him.

Yes, the doors do crack there as they flex when you close them You can have it welded up and ground flush, then touched up by a body shop.
