David Almazan

Post by Alvin »

David Almazan passed away 12/30/13
For those not familiar, David was a passionate Datsun Roadster owner and part of the Modesto Datsun Roadster Owners Club. He and his wife Phyllis helped run the Mt. Shasta Meet for years and they own SRL 0023 plus several roadsters in the family.

I met David in 1999 and he helped me find my roadster and meet the Modesto group. He was quite the character and would always manage to make me laugh whether we were at his home or at a car show. He had a very comforting aura and it was always a pleasure just to see him smile.

My condolences to the family. I've met them both at the Shasta meet
in 2010, what a wealth of knowledge and kindness they offered me
as a newbie.

I never met David, (nor most of the people on the forum for that matter), but extend my most heartfelt condolences to Phyllis and their family during this trying time.

Thanks for posting Alvin. I had heard the sad news as well but was hesitant to post anything before knowing if the family was ok with it. I didn't know David on a super personal level but always recognized his smiling face at all the meets. A great couple with his wife Phyllis, and a big reason why Shasta continued on. I will think of you and the other Roadster family members who have merged onto the next lane at Shasta this year.

Drive on David... We'll catch up...

Please pass on my condolences to Phyllis. I first met David and all the Modesto crew back in the early 90's when I first went to Shasta. I even had the pleasure of following the Modesto crew back to their place from Shasta in about '95 when I picked up a rolling chasis from Herb Petty there. When David heard I was loading the 69 chasis, he insisted I come to his house, and he gave me a hood to go with it. Come to think about it, he even drove ahead of me to get me back onto the highway for a few miles to help me get back on my way North.

He was truly a class act. It brings to mind the recent posts about helping out fellow Roadster owners along the way.

Drive on David!
