Hello 311s families,

My name is Max. I have a 1966 Roadster. I have her for about 7 years now. Just 3 years ago I decided to challenge myself and took everything apart. Now, I have no choice but to finished her. So far, the body is done in showroom condition. Frame is powder coated. Front axel is done. All the bushings, shocks and springs has been changed. Front and back brakes are done.

Now, I need to rebuild the engine. I am rebuilding this car along a good friend who is a retired mechanic and my son. However, he doesn't rebuild engine. So i need all the help the 311s families can give me on machinist that works on Datsun. Rebello is good, but will cost me. I just want stock for cruising.

Thank you.

Max

Welcome Max:
There is plenty of help and support out there in CA, someone will chime in for you. In the meantime, how about posting some pictures of your project?
We love pictures and would love to see every step of the process on your restoration, before - during - and after!

Welcome! There are lots of fellow owners on the peninsula and I work just near SFO. What engine do you have?

Welcome Max. Yes, let's see some pics.

Didn't you post a few weeks ago about the R16 rebuild?

If those leads didn't work out for you, there is a shop that a hot rod friend would use for his projects. If I recall correctly his engines were usually small block Chevys, but perhaps they can do something for you or refer you to someone else.

Champion Engines
1020 Florence Way, Campbell, CA 95008
(408) 374-5107

I can't vouch for their work 1st hand, but Champion was his go-to engine shop.

Good luck.

Rebuilding an engine is not that hard and is a rewarding experience. Consider doing it yourself, perhaps with some guidance from your mechanic friend.

We are very active and do fun runs/meets/car shows. Follow the Car Shows/Fun Runs section and we can get together! Make the Solvang Show in April a must-do!
