Timing chain Rattle when hot?

When I take my 1600 out for a long drive (50 freeway miles or more) and it heats up, 180*, never overheating, the timing chain rattles as I come off the freeway and the engine returns to idle. If I rev it up again the rattle dissappears. If I park it and let it cool a bit the rattle is gone.
I can drive it around town all day, short trips and such and there is no rattle. Only after running it at high revs for an extended period.
Any ideas?

Try 20/50 oil. It won't hurt anything. Thats the quick fix. How many miles does the engine have on it, it might be time for a timing chain replacement.
Just a thought,

It could be that as the engine is getting warmer the viscosity of the oil gets less, you may be losing a little oil pressure, if you havent changed the oil for a while maybe its time to change it!! Otherwise you might need to either shim the tensioner or get a new chain.

Actually I just changed the oil and filter last week and today was my first freeway trip and it happened. I put in 10w-40 synthetic. Is that too thin an oil? The engine has a lot of miles, but the head has been redone recently and it runs really strong.
Does the 1600 have a timing chain tensioner that can be adjusted?

Ron,
There is a tensioner towards the bottom but you cannot adjust it. If you are hearing a rattling tming chain on a 1600 I would be for changing it sooner than later. You can buy all new parts from MotoPower for around $60.00. Chain, tensioner and sprockets. $200.00 plus from else where. Not that hard to do and well worth the effort.
