Found a nissan 4cylinder....need info please!!

Post by steve68 »

Went to the junk yard today..saw a nissan engine sitting on top of a dodge truck motor (weird). Well it looks just like a r16, BUT teh valve cover has the bolts on the side and the head looks kind of shorter maybe it was just the valve cover. The dist. and fuel pump and the front cover looks exactly the same!. Has a caburated intake that looks like the H20 engine.

Any thoughts on what it might be..i will get it if it is worth while (like a 2.0L)

i didn't see any numbers but it did say nissan on the block.. iron block aluminum head.

Thanks

Got pictures? Hell, just put the Dodge motor in, no need for a turbo, just bigger front springs and life insurance.
Remember, with a brick and enough horsepower, you can have a very fast brick.

It should have an ID tab, most likely on the passenger side, that has the engine model and serial number. Other than the G15, R16, and a few different H engine sizes, I'm not familiar with any others that look a lot like these engines. The U20 block looks the same but with the head and valve cover on looks quite a bit different, plus it doesn't fit your description. The older E/J engines and the A series are a LOT smaller than an R16. There may be newer engines, maybe from a Sentra, that came with a carburetor and similar displacement.

Sounds like an A series engine to me. Was the t/stat on th horizontal or vertical on the front of the head?
