Old old roadster owner re-connects

Hi,
I bought a 69 2000 soon after I was out of high school in Nevada. I started a complete restoration back in about 1985 but then moved to a new job, raised 4 kids and started my own business so it's been sitting ever since. I had completed the full frame and body restoration (except final finishing and top coat). I tore down every last nut and bolt and sandblasted, then primed with Corlar and black Imron finish on all the chassis parts.
I'm now in Oregon, Willamette valley and have gone a long time without seeing a roadster on the street.
I opened a flickr photo group called Datsun Roadsters.
https://www.flickr.com/groups/2308373@N22/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Anyone can view. If you have a free flickr account you can join and post your photos. I highly recommend it. You get 1T of almost unlimited file size storage with a free account.
Regards.

Nice, is that color a primer, or a final choice?

Those are pre-restoration photos. It will be restored to the original (or brighter) red.

Welcome to 311s!
We are located in Corvallis, and there are a bunch of local roadsters running around (most with SR20 swaps!)
Since you are in Oregon, you really should make plans to come out to Bill Neal's fun-run this Saturday-- details here:

If you do, be sure to introduce yourself!

Too much work to do. I can't make it. Definitely thanks for the invite.
I can only just continue to lurk here until someday I can get back to the restoration.

If you lurk here long enough, you'll soon be in the garage! A couple hours a week, little bits at a time... we'll encourage you!

I thought I was the only one that was crazy to buy a roadster tear it down 30+ years ago and do a restoration.
But since I joined this forum I have found that I am not alone. Probably why we warn the younger generation of 311 owners to drive them first before resto.
Hello, my name is Grant and I'm a Datsun roadster junky - welcome to the meeting hall.

I find this inspiring. But I'll drive mine before restoring as twisting states!

I drove mine for ten years before starting this restoration. In fact the green state in the photo is the result of a partial restoration and accumulation of wear for those ten years.
I redid the dash in leather. Hand stitched the gauge openings, but the leather did not hold up to weathering. I'll be needing a good quality way to restore the dash.

How has the build been going?
About 1 1/2 months ago i was talking to my dad about how it would be cool for him to let me practice painting on the 67 dat. During the conversation i told him that a army greenish color with a shark mouth would be great to do on this little cars. "Yes i know this cars are Japanese not American"
So, then 5 minutes later i decided to do a little photoshop with your picture and came out with this. (I know this is not the best, it's because i rarely use photoshop.
P.S Good luck

Another star on the hood and some big pipes out the side and it would be set.
Check back in a few more years on how the build is going ...
