New Item 65-66 67.5 5-speed Shift Plate

Post by JT68 »

New production 5 speed 65, 66 and 67.5 shifter plates for sale.

These are hand stamped, machined and trimmed. These are not cast or machine made.

They were made from an original 67.5 5 speed plate. All the angles, indentions and features of the original were preserved.

Available for 65 and 66 as well (67.5 versions are not a correct fit for these years)

They look great either painted or powder coated. That part is up to you at this point (these are currently unpainted)

The rare and elusive boot retainer plate machined in stainless will be available to go with these as well at a moderate extra cost. The shift plates are pre drilled for this retainer or the 66 style accordion boot is a perfect fit.

Interesting, second post on availability of these today.
What gauge of metal are these?
They look very nice!

These were in process for months and we threw away A LOT of scrap pieces....the dies ended up costing a small fortune.

License Trims are on the "definite maybe" list. A "difficult" part to clone.

Probably do the late model 5-speed plate too - piece of cake after this one..

Several other items in the works too....should have some pictures up within another month or so.

Great time to be restoring roadsters! There are some beautiful parts out there made by many people...

If you had dies made are these stamped parts?
That's great!

Right, these are stamped in AL with a die. A second trim die was WAY too expensive, so that is why there is still considerable hand work, care and finesse.

Currently using the same thickness as original which yields the best part with our tooling. Makes a very crisp, true-to-form part and no concerns about rust as all the originals did.

May send out a few for plating to match the early cars, but too many projects for now! So far paint and powder coat look very good.

Looks great! Almost makes me want to put a 5 speed in my 66 just to get one.

Can you get the shift plate without pre drilled holes for the trim? Not all 5 speed plates had that trim.

And how much for the trim?

Yes, I can leave out the holes for the ring, no problem. I'll post the price on the rings as soon as I have them in hand (I only have the prototype right now). Should not be too much though. Jt

Finally a stamping like the original. Great job. These will go well with our 67 1/2 rubber shift boots and the 4 speed and 5 speed decals we have available.

From what I have seen the stainless ring went UNDER the shift plate and sandwiched the rubber boot and vinyl boot below the shift plate. Of course, I could be wrong...
